Chicago Bulls and New Yorkies

Short week=just as long of an email...have a good read everyone!

So, this week was only 4 days but man did it feel like 4.5! We did alot of contacting and I'm starting to lead them more so that's actually been so fun! And as I always say "lots of contacting=lots of stories!” So, let me tell ya some! First off was a miracle find, me and Elder Tolman had been contacting ALL day and walking back home pretty tired and ready for ramen, shower, and bed, when this guy came walking up to us...so we stopped...then he looked confused, turns out he was trying to get to the door behind us (his house) and we got in his way...but he ended up being super chill! His name is "dieu-donne" (God given) and we gave him a brochure and BAM while walking home he texted us and we set up a rendezvous with him which was Saturday and it went fire, he is such a cool dude! He had amazing questions and he understood my French😎

Next up we got New York Muslim! While on my exchange with Elder Smith (shout out to Elder Smith) we were walking down the street doing some contacting and this guy comes up and says "yo you guys the missionaries?" We say yes and he then proceeds to tell us "I'm from New York, just moved here about 2 days ago…I was about to be baptized into the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints there...then I moved but I was told Ii could find you guys here!" I go "yea! Thats us, church is at 8-10 at the church by Kegue market" (he knew where it was) then Elder Smith (shout out the Elder Smith) says "can we get your contact to give you more info" by the time Smith said that home boy was already 20 yards away going into a house... so me and Elder Smith (shout out to Elder Smith) went and knocked on the door to get his info and his mom opened it and after explaining our situation with her son and all she goes "yeah, idk his number but take mine and I'll give it to him!" And then I ask “So were you going to the church with him?" And she goes "no I'm Muslim actually, sorry Ii have to go, I haven't seen my aunt in so long and we are late!" Then closes the door...me and Elder Smith (shout out to Elder Smith) both thought this dude was scamming us...BUT HE CAME TO CHURCH!! He lives in another zone so he got in contact with those elders thankfully!

Finally, i met a Chicago Bulls fan here! He has a basketball hoop with the Bulls logo on it that you can see above his fence, for sure thought it was a white persons house...people here don't really play basketball...nope it was a Togolese. I asked if he liked basketball and he said yes then we had a fire lesson...getting into the house is also pretty funny story let's talk about that! So people here HATE Jehovah Witnesses, don't know why, but they do! And, they always think we are them...but we knocked on this door and a momma opens it and is holding the door open about 3 inches talking to us...she is saying she is to busy and all this stuff and then Elder Smith (shout out to Elder Smith) goes "nous na sommes pas témoign de johovah" AND THAT DOOR SWUNG OPEN! she was like "oh come in come in!" It was hilarious, she made her kids turn the tv off (they are rich) and come and listen to us. haha it was a lit lesson too!

French update: people are understanding what i say better (for the most part)...they say i just have a weird accent. That's improvement tho! I just got to get the West African accent down!

Also french word(s) of the week
Pêcher= to fish
Pècher= to sin
(Pronounced the same, only difference is context...)

The spiritual thought this week is very simple!
Do come follow me, it is so cool! I started this week and let me tell ya its gonna be a good year, D&C is so cool, and this weeks reading was awesome. I love the bicentennial proclamation to the world! It’s so cool! Go read it and look for phrases that you like! Do it and the Lord will help you understand the meaning behind the revelations given to Joseph Smith and why they are important!

Okay y'all thats it for this week! Love you all have a good week!

Love, Elder Mckee
