Sup Homies
Yo yo yo yovos!! This week was pretty chill so let me tell ya about it!
So, the first exchange of this week was with Elder Price from Utah, he's freaking lit. He is one of our zone leader. On said exchange I told him my goal is to stretch my French and speak as much as I can in lessons. So, this man, during every lesson would turn to me and tell me to explain some principle they don't understand. It was rough. I was struggling the first couple times, then Elder Price gave me some fire advice and this is how the convo went:
Me- man, I don't know why I'm struggling to say what I want, the French is I'm my head. I just can't get it out!
Him- bro, you're fighting it, just let it flow the best you can, the spirit will help them understand what they need too, and it will help you know what to say, so trust it. Stop fighting it!
Me- okay master zone leader
I took his advice to heart and it actually has helped so much. The rest of that day when he asked me to talk about something, I would take a deep breath and just say what I could and what came to my head at that time, and the people understood it! After I talked I would often think of better ways I could have said it or more I could have said, but I know I said exactly what those people needed to hear to understand the topic. One of the topics for example was "law of tithing" bruh what?? But, I took a deep breath and said what the spirit brought to my remembrance and relied on it to help them understand, and let me tell ya, it was a fire explanation! Made perfect sense too! Spirit works wonders! Who knew??
That section was long cause this one is gonna be short...my exchange with Elder Ben from Nigeria, was good! He goes home in about five months! He can connect with memebers and new friends so well! I didn't talk alot this day cause he didn't like how my French sounded, which is ok! I spent the whole day walking beside him picking up on as many new words as I could, and putting them into sentences I could use in other situations, so I would count it as a good day!!
So the days I was in sector were lit, I was actually able to participate in some lessons and I am doing more of the contacting which is so fun! I have gotten pretty decent at it! Buttttt definitely ALOT of room for improvement. I am out here celebrating the small victories each day!
Spiritual thought, this one comes from PMG which is a lit book! I am reading in French (surprising I know) and one sentence I really liked was in chapter 7, which is about learning mission language. It says "Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ will help you as you seek Their help." I think this goes for a lot more than learning a language, in ANY aspect of our lives if we seek their help, they will help, they are standing there with their arms stretched out, waiting for us to go to them for help. As I have sought their help more on the mission in remembering scriptures to teach or a new freaking language, I've seen them bless me and I've seen them bless of the others I teach. So, this church is true, the spirit is real, trust in the spirit!
Also, another spiritual thought. While in the MTC a good friend of mine send me a voice recording talking about how when they prayed and went forward with confidence that God will answer that prayer, and the prayer got answered in an amazing way for them! So, when you pray, be confident God will answer you, don't wait on the couch for the answer to come, go out, exercise faith and be confident that God will help you! I've worked on being more like that friend and being more confident that my prayers will be answered and I have seen more answers in my life than ever before! It's amazing! (To that friend: if your reading this, hope you're ok with me sharing it 😁)
Also, I had stake conference and it was lit! We literally used every chair in the building and even had some standing in the back and sitting on the stage, it was an amazing conference, didn't understand alot of it but that's cause it was in Eve not French, they would switch between Eve, French, and some English. One guy even quoted Donald Trump which made all the Americans laugh.
I am sad to say that stage I was sitting on had a nail sticking out of it and my pants caught it and ripped a huge hole in the side of my pants (first time my mom is hearing about this too) so now I'm down 2 shirts and 1 pair of pants... 2 months in... 😁
I got recognized! Someone came up to me and said "I saw your face! In the Book of Mormon videos!" It was so funny, and really surprising. A lot of times when I show people they dont think its really me cause of the hair…I'M AN INTERNATIONAL CELEBRITY!!!
Anyways, that's this weeks email (my mom will probably add more). Hope you are all doing well and thriving! I know I am doing freaking amazing here! Loving every day!
God has a plan for each of us, as we align our will with His, we find joy every day in the smallest of things! Always remeber that!
Love,
Elder mckee/m.c.keh/mski/mick/m.c. (I get called all kinds of variations of my name. and people get annoyed when I don’t answer)
Sister Ruth. She said I was her favorite missionary.
I didn't see this, but another Elder did.

Dinner
Best guys in the ward.
Stake Conference. We used Every Chair and I tore my pants.
Learning how to make Fufu from a Congolese and man threw the pot to the ground and said, "Grab me rags." Then he holds the hot pot with his feet and stirs it.
Rumor is, if you go into those trees you never come out.
