Love Letters
Hey yall good week...lets talk about it
This week, as I'm sure many of you knew, was General Conference, which is a lot more exciting as a missionary if you ask me! So, this last week we ran all over inviting everyone to church and explaining the leadership of the church and the importance of it and all the good stuff to get everyone ready…Saturday evening at 5 (when we watch Saturday morning session) and one friend came, but she came with a member! It was someone we contacted then a few days later she met this member, unknowing it was a member, and talked about the two yovos who gave her a book and helped her with the water and invited her to come watch something on TV. The member then said "oh yeah, Elder M.c.keh and his companion? They are the missionaries for the church I'm apart of!" (she doesn't know Barnes to well) and then they came together, so that was awesome!
During conference I had an old Hymn book and the hard covers were both gone so you could roll it up like a magazine. I did that and told the young adults and kids (not parents) around me if I catch them sleeping I'll smack them with it! It worked but, a few fell asleep, ratted out by their friends and family to me, being a man of my word, I smacked them with a rolled up hymn book and boy did that wake them up quick! I had all three rows around me sitting up straight watching and listening to the good word of God's servents! I might have to bring this old hymn book home for when my dad falls asleep during sacrement!
A dude tried to bash us by saying there isn't an apostasy. I simply said "yes there was, I read about it in the Bible, we had an apostasy and the power of God was gone, and needed a restoration, which God did through a prophet named Joseph Smith" and he then said "John Baptise was the last prophet before Christ" i said "yes that's right...?" Confused why he brought this up, and he said "what did he declare" i said "idk tell me" and he said "well I forgot what it was, you to tell me" and I said “I don't know what thing your talking about that he declared..." and he interrupted me goes "HA YOU SEE" clapping his hands in my face then left...interesting for sure. Saw him again and tried to give a Book of Mormon and he said "no it's not the Bible" and i said “you're right it's another testament of Christ" and he said “I dont want this testament of Christ" I said ok and left, I still don't know where he was going with the John Baptist thing...
This last week we contacted this group of friends and one of the girls LOVESSS white people, especially Elder Barnes, so she kept touching his arms and hands so we decided to leave. Well she walked with us for a while and grabbed his hand, Elder Barnes was pretty uncomfortable and did not like it in the slightest, but I'm proud to say I got a picture of it!
Well, my spiritual thought this week comes from General Conference, surprising I know, but one talked I liked was by Kevin G. Brown and he talked about how testimonies don't have an experation date, if we knew something was true in the past, it's true today, nothing can change that! Man, conference was awesome!
Love you all! Have a great week.
Love,
Elder McKee
