MOOOMMM HE'S TOUCHING ME!!!
Hey y'all welcome back to another email of my adventures here in Kelegougen Togo!
This last week was fun! But also a little rough! We had transfers and because Tolman is an office elder we got to go "help" and by help I mean go talk with everyone and load some bags, it was lit! My group is no longer the youngest group, the new missionaries seem so chill and funny! They seemed so confused and nervous, ahhh feels like 7 weeks ago that was me, so long ago but also felt like yesterday! This is my last transfer with Elder Tolman...last six weeks of training, I got a lot to figure out before then.
So, what made this week a little rough was almost every single one of our lessons feel through and so we were doing a but load of contacting. Buttt that makes for some fun stories! We found alot of interesting people... let me tell ya about them: a momma who does voodoo and is Catholic. She said "gotta do both so I'm just extra safe!" I wanted to show her Matthew 6: 24 which talks about how you can’t serve two masters...but decided not to chastise her..., we met a rich Catholic dude who was actually so chill and let us in and we talked and then at the end he was like "oh you're the Mormons huh! You take multiple wives!" We said "no we don't, it happened long ago in the past but not now." And he goes "see I'm cultured" and tapped his head...like bruh what?? Haha
Title of this week's email comes from a dude from Benin. I am 98% sure he is 100% gay, he was acting very weird with us and would keep getting closer as he was talking so we gave him our number and left asap. Well, he texted us and we set up a time to teach him and when we got there he set up a mat and we all sat on the ground and he was sitting WAY too close to me! And kept calling us his yoovoos, which was weird!! And, he kept freaking touching me. He grabbed my leg and pitched my face and put his arm around me, then wanted to take another picture so got up to grab his phone and when he sat down he sat as close AS FREAKING POSSIBLE and touched my butt then put his arm around me and looked at me, and Tolman said "we are leaving" and we got up and then he started getting all mad we wouldn't take a picture with him (we already took one at the start of lesson) and he tried to hold Tolman back from leaving by pulling his arm snd so Tolman like pushed him away and then he like grabbed my arm and i grabbed his wrist and like threw it away from me...then we left...worst hour on the mission yet...
One night me and Tolman came home and there was a half dead bat on our porch, asked the other companionship about it and they said "oh yeah, came into the house so we hit it with the broom, it's not dead yet”. So, I grabbed my good old Leather-man and stabbed it so it didn't have to suffer with broken wings and a fatal concussion, so I stabbed it and finished it off (pictures in album) bats are disgusting up close. Oh, by the way, the word "bat" in French is "chauve-souris" which literally means "bald mouse”, so that's cool!
Anyways! After a full week of contacting and a few lessons we had at least 10 people saying to us on Saturday night that they will be at church the next day...next day came...none of them came...one of our friends came who has been coming for about a month already, i was so happy to see him tho, shout out to Yaouvi! He's lit!
To end this week's email off i wanna talk about the Brother of Jared. I've shared this story with a few families this week and it’s such a cool story. You all should go read it and see that if you have faith, you can see the hand of Christ in your life so much! Maybe not physically, but spiritually and be able to see all the blessings he has given and will give to you! Its ETHER 3: 4-13 but your should read the whole chapter 😁😁
Till next week, pray always, study the scriptures, listen to the prophet! Love you all, miss you tons!
Email me: andrew.mckee@missionary.org I can read emails all week, but will answer you next day.
